Bogotá Metro Fares: What Will a Ticket Cost?

According to Empresa Metro de Bogotá (EMB), the metro won't have its own separate fare. It will be integrated into Bogotá's public transport fare system (SITP) through the Interoperable Fare Collection System. In practice, you'll pay with the same TuLlave card used on TransMilenio, the city's bus rapid transit network.

What does "fare integration" mean?

It means the metro won't have its own ticketing system or a separately-set fare — it will share fare collection with TransMilenio, TransMiCable, and the zonal SITP buses, with free transfers between modes within a time window.

Today's SITP fare (for reference)

Right now, the SITP/TransMilenio fare is 3,550 COP, in effect since January 14, 2026, with a free 125-minute transfer window between TransMilenio, TransMiCable, and TransMiZonal buses, according to Alcaldía de Bogotá / TransMilenio S.A. This is the CURRENT fare for the system the metro will join — it isn't a fare set specifically for Line 1, which doesn't have its own fare decree yet.

How you pay

With a TuLlave card (personalized or Plus) — the same rechargeable smart card already used across TransMilenio and the wider SITP network. If you're visiting Bogotá, you'll likely already have one for the bus system, and it should work on the metro too once it opens.
