About this area
Calle 45 takes its name from the avenue of the same name, on the station's north side, which will also connect directly to the Calle 45 TransMilenio station via pedestrian bridges, according to Wikipedia. It sits on Avenida Caracas at Calle 42, on the border between the Chapinero and Teusaquillo localities, and mainly serves the Santa Teresita and Palermo neighborhoods, according to Wikipedia. The physical TransMilenio integration actually happens along the Avenida Caracas stretch between calles 42 and 44 — not at calle 45 itself — even though the station keeps that name, according to bogota.gov.co. Nearby there are several university campuses — including Universidad Piloto de Colombia — and the Centro Cultural Jorge Eliécer Gaitán, according to Wikipedia. On that same Avenida Caracas corridor, the TransMilenio bus station called Calle 45 — the current system, distinct from this future metro station — closed on April 17, 2026 for demolition, to make way for Line 1's viaduct construction, according to Wikipedia.
