About this area
The station takes its name from Fundación HOMI (Hospital de la Misericordia), located right on the station's west side, according to Wikipedia. It's one of Line 1's 8 stations with a direct TransMilenio connection confirmed by the Bogotá city government, between calles 2 and 3 on Avenida Caracas, according to bogota.gov.co. Founded in 1897, HOMI was Colombia's first hospital dedicated exclusively to pediatric care, and today it houses the country's largest children's cancer center, according to Fórmula Médica. On that same Avenida Caracas corridor, the TransMilenio bus station called Hospital — the current system, distinct from this future metro station — closed on July 5, 2025 for demolition, to make way for Line 1's viaduct construction, according to Wikipedia.
